    Wildlife

Around every twist and turn at Lower Mill Estate, lies a new adventure, where youngsters can explore to their heart’s content. • Young family on the Miss Mouse Adventure Trail

    Miss Mouse Trail

Inspired by Lower Mill Estate’s founder, Jeremy Paxton, and brought to life in his memory, the Miss Mouse Adventure Trail encourages children to get to know as many species as possible around the estate. We have developed a cast of characters from his imagined children’s book, “Miss Mouse Builds a House” and incorporated them into the quest. Collect a map from the Miss Mouse meeting hut and head out into the wild to find the hidden treasure. Open all year round.

Known as the Venice of the Cotswolds, Bourton-on-the-Water has pretty low stone bridges that cross the River Windrush. The market town of Cirencester is within easy reach for a spot of shopping, or head further afield to Cheltenham, 25 miles north of Lower Mill Estate – the large spa town hosts some of the Cotswold’s finest events, including one of the most famous meetings in the horse racing calendar. To the south lies the city of Bath, a World Heritage Site with beautiful Georgian architecture, five theatres, natural hot springs and cultural festivals throughout the year.

  • National Trust Must-Sees

Discover the manor houses and gardens of Clevedon Court and Snowshill, the Dutch water garden at Westbury Court, the Jacobean country house and garden at Chastleton, the Roman Villa at Chedworth and the deer park at Dyrham Park.

Foodies are spoilt for choice in the Cotswolds but our favourite establishments include The Potting Shed in Crudwell, The Village Pub in Barnsley for a cosy pint or meal, the chic Barnsley House, Whatley Manor Hotel & Spa and The Wild Duck at Ewen. Just outside Burford, Upton Smokery is a brilliant speciality deli specialising in smoked meats, smoked fish and biltong.
